That Direct though.

Today the Pokemon company launched their Pokemon Direct to give the gaming world more of what's to come in their new installment in the mainline series of Pokemon games. Sword and Shield is looking to be a new game changer considering the following points already established:

  1. New Region known as Galar, which seems to be heavily influenced by the United Kingdom.
  2. New list of Pokemon with seven of them excluding the starters already being confirmed.
  3. Gym battles have made a comeback in anew way with gyms looking more like football stadiums where huge crowds gather to see the battles take place.
  4. The Wild Area, which seems to be the large open world where the player can definitely capture all different types of Pokemon, the new addition being that now the player can see what Pokemon are out in the wild like in Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, the weather also seems to play an important mechanic where depending on the weather conditions is what type of Pokemon will be available and for how long.
  5. There is also what seem to be "raid battles" in the game if done in an online multiplayer mode where four players can challenge a wild, gigantic version of a Pokemon that has gone into a "Dynamax" state. A statement straight from the official video game site states the following regarding this new mechanic: "Dynamax is a phenomenon unique to specific locations in the Galar region, where Pokémon are able to take on gigantic appearances. Pokémon from the Galar region are capable of Dynamaxing, and the Dynamax Pokémon become tremendously strong." There are also instances one can see in the trailer where this mechanic will be a recurring thing among gym battles. Just like totem pokemon were in the Alola Region.
All in all this entry looks to bring hopefully new life in the mainline pokemon games, and if not, it will still be a lot of fun to play. What are your thoughts on this new entry of the storied Pokemon franchise? Will the legendaries live up to the hype? Will we get Pokemon Gun or the Puerto Rican variant, Pokemon Chancleta?
