A New Metroidvania?

So lately, indie games have been more and more prevalent in the gaming scene than they have ever been before. Most of the time when I feel the urge to try a new game, I usually would have been looking up the latest product from a AAA developing company. But having been disappointed so many times before, with just how soulless at times these big budget games turn out to be that it becomes almost a pain to play them. However, one day I decided to try an indie game not just any indie game mind you…it was HOLLOW KNIGHT. My mind was blown away forever! Ever since then, indie games have been a new favorite of mine when searching up new titles to play. 

One day my phone was just chilling next to me while I was at work. When I realize a notification popping up on the screen saying there is a trailer for a game called The Perfect Pencil. Having no idea what it was, I decided to pop in the headphones and give it a quick watch. And let me just say that it drew me in, chewed me up and spit me out in just a short two minute trailer. Now the studio behind this project; Studio Cima, says the following of its game: “Unravel the nuances of human reactions to fear and help John on his journey of personal growth. Surprising exploration, complex choices, and allegorical characters, all intertwined in this hand-drawn 2D action-platformer.” The trailer is set in this surreal world where it seems for a second like a normal quiet town where these “people” live, but soon we see how things take a turn for a far more sinister story hiding in the background. This alone made my expectations fly so high and I hope to be able to enjoy this game when it comes out in early 2023. 

The Perfect Pencil is coming out on Nintendo Switch sometime in Early 2023.
